Race Director
The Owen Scully Memorial Big Star Lake Run is a 15K run around Big Star Lake, located in southern Lake County, Michigan. Big Star Lake is eight miles west and four miles south of Baldwin, Michigan. The race is a perfect way to begin your Labor Day weekend in northern Michigan. For persons wishing a less strenuous option, a 5K walk/run is also offered. The 15K race starts near the Lake Township Hall, promptly at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K starts about 20 minutes later.
The race follows a paved road around the lake which has a few gently rolling hills. Aid stations and intermediate split times are available and accurate! The race is primarily sponsored by the Big Star Lake Association, with cooperative sponsorship of West Michigan businesses. Awards will be presented to the top three overall men and women and to male and female age groups (15 & under; 16-19; 20-30; 31-39; 40-49; 50 & over) based on a runner's age on race day. T-shirts will also be given to all pre-registered runners. T-shirts are first come first server for race day registrants while supplies last.
